2011 Apparel, Class Mass & Social, Friar Bucks…

The sophomore class has many exciting plans for this semester and next! First of which is our 2011 PC apparel. We have designed black and white tie-dye shirts and black mesh shorts, exclusively for our class. Look to get an order form for the apparel in Ray.  We are excited also to announce that on October 19, 2008 we will be holding a class Mass and Ice Cream Social. The Mass will be held at 4:30pm in the Chapel and the Ice Cream Social shortly after at 5:30pm in ’64 Hall. All sophomores are welcome and encouraged to attend this fun event. In terms of legislation, 2011 class Congress is working with administration on a plan to allow PC Ids work at restaurants and stores off- campus. So far we are just in the planning stage, but look forward to hearing updates on our progress with this. We hope everyone is having a great semester at PC. Student Congress is hosting an Off Campus forum for students who live both on and off campus.  Attending the forum will be Mr. Richard Kless, The Director of Off Campus Living, Major Leydon, Director of Safety and Security, and a representative from the Providence Police sub-station on Eaton Street.

The forum is a great way for students who currently live off campus, are thinking of living off campus, or spend time off campus, to learn more about how to be safe off campus, and ask general questions regarding off campus living.

We hope that you will be able to make this Wednesday, October 8th at 5:00 PM in McPhails.

The Student Handbook, JRW, and More Meal Choices

2010 Update:

Class of 2010 has been working very hard on issues on campus since the start of the new semester.  

In light of the new alcohol policy changes, 2010 has been working on reviewing and revising the student handbook so it is more readily available to PC students. Many students have expressed concern to Student Congress that they will be ultimately be written up for a policy that they are unaware of.  We hope that by revising the handbook to make it easier for students to understand and to make it more widely available via emails and hard copies, we can alleviate any student concerns.

Aside from the alcohol policy changes, 2010 has also been working on other issues on campus.  Class representative Lauren Riely has been working closely with Academics to change the course schedules so that there will be minimal course overlap when students plan their schedules for the fall and spring semester.  

Class representative Andraya Pulaski has also been working with Career Services to strengthen advisor and alumni connections to inform students of greater job opportunities after college.  2010 has also been working on implementing an Events Calendar in Ray to inform students of upcoming events on campus.  

We have also been working on putting more off campus trash can and recycling bins on campus to improve the look of our school.  

Finally, 2010 has begun to look at improving the flexibility of students’ meal plan by allowing students to swipe into Ray more than three times a day and to use their unused meal points elsewhere on campus.

As a sidenote, please keep in mind that our JRW is November 6th, 7th and 8th!  We are all looking forward to sharing this milestone in our college careers and to create some wonderful memories with our class!
